If you're a fan of adding leaves to your aquascape to create a cool microhabitat, then you already know that replenishing them as they decompose is just "par for the course." And it's always a good idea to have a fresh set of leaves ready to go when you need them! That's why we created the "Re-leaf" Leaf Litter Replenishment Pack!
This utterly useful pack contain an assortment of your favorite leaves in various sizes, perfect for topping of- or even starting- a great leaf litter zone in your aquarium! Although the selection varies, as outlined below, "Re-leaf" typically contains 6 Large Catappa leaves, 8 Medium Catappa leaves, 10 Nano Catappa leaves, 8 Guava leaves, and 4 Loquat leaves. And, while supplies last, we'll include a coveted "Sandaken, Borneo XL" Catappa leaf as well!
Now, here's the interesting part of the deal: As you know, we're all about hand selecting the stuff that we feel looks best, so, you may see substitutions now and then, depending upon what leaves we have in better supply/condition. For example, we may just sneak some Magnolia leaves into your pack instead of Loquat, as they are notoriously "crispy" and sometimes don't look as good as at other times. Or. we'll sneak in a random "player", like Jackfruit leaves...You never know!
One thing you can count on is that "Re-leaf" contains enough nice leaves (at least 36) to help you replenish an established, decent-sized leaf litter zone for a couple of months, although it could be a shorter or longer time depending upon the density of leaves that you maintain, as well as water chemistry and other environmental factors. Of course, yo can always use "Re-Leaf" to "kick start" your litter bed, too!
Before using the leaves in your aquarium, we recommend a good rinse, followed by soaking them in fresh water for a few days to let them become waterlogged and to leach off some of the initial tannins. Alternatively, you could steep them in boiling water for about 10 minutes to really accelerate the process. Or, just "rinse and add", if that's your thing. It's your call.
All of our aquatic botanicals are intended for ornamental aquarium or terrarium use only. Please use common sense and take the time to boil or soak all botanicals prior to using them, to reduce the possibility of problems. Always go slow when introducing any botanicals into your systems, so you can judge the effect they have on your fishes and plants. They are not intended for human consumption. DO NOT INGEST!
NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION
NOTE: Due to natural variations of leaves, each one will appear different. The photo is a representation of what to expect.
