Imagine if there were an easy way to get the lovely blackwater aesthetics and benefits easily and quickly, with little effort and no mess. Well, there is!
Enter "Shade!"
“Shade” is sachets of botanical materials with predictable, safe, natural color-producing effects on the water. Each “Shade” sachet contains a carefully-selected combination of botanical materials that have been combined for their abilities to impart specific color tones into the water.
Shade imparts a deep, golden-brown color into the water.
In addition to aesthetics, the use of botanicals is known to impart some health benefits to fishes. They are known to contain humic substances, tannins, and in the case of some leaves, substances like flavonoids, which are known to support antibacterial activity, saponins, which are thought to stimulate immune responses, and a suite of antioxidants.
In water with little to no carbonate hardness, Shade may lower pH; however, the degree to which it will do so depends on a variety of factors, and experimentation is required.
“Shade” is perfect for the breeder, planted tank enthusiast, or speciality hobbyist who wants the visual aesthetics of tinted water, but doesn’t want to have decomposing botanicals and their associated biofilms and fungi in his/her aquarium.
THE PROCESS: “Shade” is incredibly simple to use. Simply place the sachet(s) in water, and the tinting effect will commence immediately and naturally. “Shade” sachets may be placed directly in the aquarium, in a canister filter, HOB filter, or reactor, where water will flow through them. Depending upon the size of the aquarium, water characteristics, and a number of other factors, the color effects will take effect within 24 hours.
Our recommendation is to start with one "Shade" sachet for every 5 U.S. gallons.

ORIGIN: Borneo
PREPARATION: Prep "Shade" by quickly rinsing the sachet in fresh, warm water for a few seconds. This helps saturate the crushed botanicals prior to administering it into your aquarium.
All of our botanical products are intended for ornamental aquarium or terrarium use only. Please use common sense and take the time to boil or soak all botanicals prior to using them, to reduce the possibility of problems. Always go slow when introducing any botanicals into your systems, so you can judge the effect they have on your fishes and plants. They are not intended for human consumption. DO NOT INGEST!
