Redtail Rasbora (Rasbora borapetensis) - Group of 8 specimens

Hardy, adaptable, and strikingly beautiful, the lovely Redtail Rasbora is a great fish for the lover of Asian-themed aquariums! Ours are wild-collected from the Chaopraya drainage in Thailand, and are colorful, active, and hardy.

They come from a wide variety of habitats in nature, including some very polluted streams, they tend to do well in 'manageable" acidic to mildly alkaline conditions  (like in the 6.6-7.2 range). Of course, they're perfectly suited for blackwater systems as well, where the humic substances produced by leaves and other botanical materials offer a definite health benefit to the fish. They are not picky in terms of lighting conditions, and tend to do their best in well-established aquariums which are chemically and biologically stable. We recommend that you keep them at temperatures around 77-78 degrees Fahrenheit.

These beautiful Rasbora are great for community aquariums of smaller, peaceful fishes, and need sufficient space to school and to engage in courtship rituals. We offer them in a group of 8 specimens to facilitate these behaviors.

Being micropredators, these fish will eat a variety of small crustaceans, so food like Daphnia, Brine Shrimp, and black worms are eagerly accepted. You can adapt them to eat prepared foods, like flakes and pellets, once they've acclimated to aquarium life.

Ours are wild-collected, and are careful adapted to captive life in Mike Tuccinardi's Boulder, CO facility. They average about 1" in length when shipped, but can double in size when fully mature. You'll receive healthy, active, well-adjusted species, ready to shine in your aquarium!
