This is a super cool botanical that has a beautiful brown appearance with interesting texture. They typically are highly variable, ranging from about 5"-6" (12.7-15.24cm) in length, and are about 2.25"-2.5" (5.71-6.35cm) in diameter.
Derived from the Nypa fruticans palm, they are reminiscent of the plant materials that fall off jungle palms and are commonly found submerged in tropical streams and rivers. They create a perfect natural setting for fishes, and enrich the water with lots of beneficial tannins. (Oh, and shrimp LOVE them!)
PREPARATION: We recommend that you boil them for at least 45-60 minutes or more. After boiling, we highly recommend a soak in fresh water for several days to leach out the initial burst of tannins and organics.
