Ember Tetra- (Hyphessobrycon amandae) - Group of 10 specimens

These little gems are really great fishes to keep in a biotope aquariums, displaying a flash of bright red color, and an engaging loose shoaling behavior that is fun to watch. Ours are a terrific aquacultured Asian strain, hardy and colorful! Natives to the Amazon basin, this fish inhabits a variety of blackwater tributaries, flooded plains, and lakes.

As you've already guessed, you're not strictly limited to a blackwater aquarium with these fishes, and they will really shine in a variety of display for you! Sure, some botanicals and decomposing leaves would add interest and authenticity to their display, but the fish is equally wonderful in a "high concept" planted aquarium as well. Neutral to slightly acidic water and "typical" tropical temperatures of 77-80 degrees Fahrenheit suits them fine!

Its a super-peaceful fish that does well in a group, which is precisely why we're offering them that way! You'll see all sorts of interesting behaviors, including competition for the attention of females by the males, which really brings out the great colors of the fish! They are easy feeders, taking just about anything that you throw at them (provided it's small enough to fit in their mouths), and will display that classic characin "feeding frenzy" behavior!

Our specimens are healthy, active, and feeding well at Mike Tuccinardi's facility before they leave for your aquarium!  They average approximately 0.75"-1" in length, and are perfect for small to medium sized aquairums- and stellar in a huge group in a large aquarium!  One of our favorite small Tetras for sure!
