Dried "Tapete Pods" (Package of 2)

These pods really look nice! When dry, they have a sort of cool curvy look to them. However, once you wet them or boil them, they will lose this shape and unroll- like a carpet, or "tapete"- hence the name. They are free of pesticides or other contaminants, and are carefully collected and gently cleaned, then sun dried.

"Tapete Pods" have a cool curved form and a leathery, reddish-brown woody appearance and "embossed" texture. They make great little shelter or foraging areas for shrimp, dwarf cichlids, catfish, and even some betas. Another perfect natural "prop" to simulate the river biotope, providing foraging areas for fish, and wonderful aesthetic benefits for you!

Just like with our other pods, these are perfect to help cover open substrate and supplement leaf litter to simulate Amazonian stream bottoms. You can even tie mosses to them! They're pretty good size, up to about 6" in length on average, with a width of about 2", so they really can fill an area nicely!

These pods will leach some tannins into the water over the long term. Although you'll need to boil them for at least 10 minutes (sometimes a bit more) to waterlog them and leach out tannins (because they do float when first immersed). They will often sink with merely a prolonged (like a couple of hours) float in fresh room-temperature water!  And, they typically "unroll" themselves after preparation..Not to worry- they're actually pliable enough that you can sort of "reshape" them by hand!

"Tapete Pods" are really cool aquatic botanicals, offering a great combination of aesthetics, form, and function for aquarium use!

NOTE: These are a natural product, and display variation in color, size, and texture. Each pod is unique! The photo serves as a reasonable representation of what to expect.

All of our aquatic botanicals are intended for ornamental aquarium or terrarium use only. Please use common sense and take the time to boil or soak all botanicals prior to using them, to reduce the possibility of problems. Always go slow when introducing any botanicals into your systems, so you can judge the effect they have on your fishes and plants. They are not intended for human consumption. DO NOT INGEST!
