Dried "Onda Rio" Pods (Package of approximately 12 pieces)

If you want a botanical for a nano tank, or a little area on the substrate in your tank, the "Onda Rio" is perfect! It looks a lot like a miniaturized, oval-shaped version of our popular "Espiral Galho!"

These are really cool-looking botanicals that have a very unique, "gnarly", striated appearance and attractive color. They are free of pesticides or other contaminants, and are carefully collected and prepared. Simply cut into sections, gently cleaned, and sun dried.

They add a very cool look to your substrate, providing a cool touch of interest here and there. A perfect natural "prop" to simulate the river biotope, where branches, seeds, and pods fall into the water and accumulate, adding to the richness of the environment. You could use it in leaf litter as a supplement, or in a field of other aquatic botanicals.

We love to use them to cover open substrate and supplement leaf litter to simulate Amazonian stream bottoms, ourselves. Shrimp, in particular, seem to love grazing o them, and they will recruit a little biofilm and algae, so they're perfect i na shrimp tank! They're  variable in size; however, they are typically about 1.25" in diameter on average. They will leach some minimal tannins into the water over the long term.

You'll need to boil them for at least 20 minutes (sometimes quite  a bit more) to waterlog them, because they are incredibly light and readily float when first immersed!  They may also be simply steeped in hot water for an hour or two. If you can't get them to "go down", it may be necessary to boil them a second time.

"Onda Rio" are interesting, attractive, cool aquatic botanicals, and they are ideal for a variety of uses in the aquarium or vivarium.

NOTE: These are a natural product, and display variation in color, size, and texture. Each pod is unique! The photo serves as a reasonable representation of what to expect.

All of our aquatic botanicals are intended for ornamental aquarium or terrarium use only. Please use common sense and take the time to boil or soak all botanicals prior to using them, to reduce the possibility of problems. Always go slow when introducing any botanicals into your systems, so you can judge the effect they have on your fishes and plants. They are not intended for human consumption. DO NOT INGEST!
