Sri Lankan Mahogany Bark Tube

Mahogany bark offers a fantastic, rich source of tannins, humic acids, and other substances which  are thought to provide antibacterial and antifungal properties and other health benefits for aquarium inhabitants. These cool bark tubes provide the dual benefits of utility and aesthetics!

Tannin Sri Lankan Mahogany Bark is harvested in a sustainable manner from a small village in Sri Lanka just for us. They are carefully cleaned, dried, and are rolled  into attractive little "tubes", some (not all, however) have openings large enough to function as a natural "hiding place" for many species of Plecos!

They're good-sized, too, and average about 6”-12" (15.24cm-30.48cm) long, and about 2" (5.08cm) or more in diameter/width. They're also great for conditioning your water, imparting water-tinting tannins and other beneficial humic substances.

PREPARATION: We think the best way is to boil them for about 20-30 minutes before adding to your aquarium. Alternatively, you could simply soak them in water for a few days to saturate them.

ORIGIN: Kotugoda, Sri Lanka

NOTE: Because these are a natural product, rolled by hand, each one will differ in appearance. The photo shown is to provide an idea of what to expect the product to look like.
