Cuspa Pod

A beautiful little botanical that looks like a miniature Manta Ray! Actually, it's the woody fruit capsule of Aspidosperma cuspa, a tree native to South America, these pods range in size from 1.5"-2.5"(3.81-6.35cm) in circumference. They have a hard exterior with a soft interior surface that will dissolve over time when submerged.

They are perfect for utilizing as a supplement to leaf litter, or along with other botanicals as a diminutive, yet very noticeable "supporting player" in a "substrate enrichment" role. They will attract the attention of your ornamental shrimp and Plecos, which will rasp at their slightly softer interior and the biofilms they recruit.

PREPARATION: You can boil them for 20 minutes or so, followed by a brief  freshwater soak. Or, you can simply put them in a container of warm freshwater, and they typically will saturate and sink on their own after a day or two.

ORIGIN: Brazil

NOTE: These are a natural product, and display variation in color, size, and texture. Each pod is unique! The photo serves as a reasonable representation of what to expect.
