Manzanita comes from the Southwestern United States. Ours is legally and sustainably harvested, and is fantastic wood to use in aquariums. It's lightweight, yet strong, with beautiful structure. It lasts a very long time when submerged, and will sink with minimal soaking and preparation time.
All pieces are unique and different. These are hand-selected for aquarium use by passionate fish geeks, so you're pretty much assured of getting something you'll love!
We offer two varieties- "natural" (as pictured), with the bark on, and sandblasted, with the bark removed. Both work great in aquariums!
PLEASE SELECT THE OPTION YOU DESIRE (TYPE/QUANTITY) USING PULL-DOWN MENU.
Before you use this wood in your aquarium, you should give it a good rinse, and soak it in water for a few days in order to sink it. Sure, there may be leaching of tannins, but not to the same extent as some of our other woods. The "sandblasted" specimens will ultimately take on a unique "patina" after submersion. Some of the "natural" specimens will have a deeper reddish color than those in the picture above.
DIMENSIONS ARE APPROXIMATE.
NOTE: You will be purchasing piece of wood similar to those shown in the photos. These are NOT WYSIWYG specimens. The photos are to give you an idea of the types of pieces you can expect to receive.
